WOMEN MISERS.

STARVED TO DEATH. London, January 4. Two remarkable stories of women misers are reported, one from HuK and the other from Brussels. Two women died of starvation in the slums of Hull. The hovels which they occupied showed a frightful picture of destitution. There was no furniture, and the paper had peeled off the walls with damp and age. When the authorities made a search of the premises, however, they found a number of old bank books, nibbled by mice, which showed that the two women had credits in the bank—one for £SOO and the other of, £2OOO. In Brussels an aged woman, who was reputed to have a hoard of jewels, was strangled by a 'burglar. While the man was looking for the jewels the dead woman's parrot ca'.led out some words which it had learnt from its mistress. The terrified assassin fled.
