STATISTICS OF THE FORCES. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, January 10. When the Cadets born in 1898 were registered for military training ten thousand were missing. The scheme has now been operating for eighteen months, and about 4000 of these shirkers have been traced. The registrations total 35,590, excluding militia existing before. Of these 17,288 were exempted from drills owing to living too far away. Eighty-three per cent, of the Cadets were medically fit, and 16,854 actually in training. Registrations of Senior Cadets number 148,945, and there are in training 90,190. The medically fit were 91 per cent. The Junior Cadets number 41,230.
