FIRE IN SAN FRANCISCO.
LEAPING FOR LIFE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. New York, January 9. A great fire at San Francisco destroyed a number of lodging-houses. The inmates had to leap for their lives. Three persons are dead, and many are injured. A gas explosion injured numbers of the police. A lodger escaping wrapped in a blanket stumbled over the prostrate body of a woman and dragged her to safety through the flaming stairway.
