A FIVE-DAY WEEK.
SUGGESTED IN' AUSTRALIA. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney. January 10. Remarks made at the last Eight Hours Banquet, and debates in the recent sessions of the Commonwealth and State Parliaments, show that the suggestion for a five days working week is regarded in some circles an a possibility. It is now suggested that closing on Saturday night might he utilised to assist the universal training scheme, thus abolishing night drills and not interfering with Saturday afternoon pastimes, it is merely a suggestion towards a concrete proposal.
