THE HUTT ROAD. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Thursday. For a period of throe weeks in October last the Railway Department took a tally of the traffic on the Hutt Road for the purpose of enabling the authorities to fix the proportion of the cost of construction and maintenance to be paid by local bodies. During the three weeks the road was used wholly or partly 216,5G5 times by vehicles of all descriptions, equal to use of the whole road by 12,364 vehicles, including motors. The result of the tally shows that Welington City Council should bear nearly onehalf of the cost.
