ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
FIREMAN'S SUICIDE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Thursday. The dead body of a man named Patrick Furguson, about 50 years of age,' a fireman by occupation, was found on the seat o a tramway shelter at Oriental Bay at 0 o'clock this morning, with a bullet wound in his right temple and a revolver, one chamber of which had been discharged, was lying at the man's feet. Tlic body was quite cold. DROWNED OFF A STEAMER. Wanganui, Thursday. A man named John Brady, about forty years of age. a well-known contractor, fell off the river steamer at Raiwhaike this morning, and was drowned. The boat was travelling fast against a strong current, and Brady was carried a long way astern, and he sank before assistance could reach him. The body lias not yet been recovered.
FATAL TRAP ACCIDENT. Hastings, Thursday. Carol Frederick Goldammcr. 84 years of age, a widower, a visitor from Dunedin. met with a fata'i trap accident on Pakowhiii Road, four miles from Hastings last evening. In company with friends he was driving towards Meanee when the horse shied at a mob of cattle and jerkeo the trap backwards. Goldammer was thrown out on his bead, and he died in a. few minutes. Goldammcr left married daughters resuling at Palmerston North and Duncdin.
