ATHLETICS.

A MEETING OF RUNNING CRACKS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 3, 9.50 p.m. London, January 3. Donaldson, Walker, Meares and Beaton won their heats in the 130 yards handicap-at Powderhall. Shaw did not run. Donaldson failed in the attempt to lower the three hundred yards' record at Powderhall.

"CRIMSON FLASH" BEATEN. REG. WALKER'S ~FAST HUNDRED. London. December 19. Reg. Walker defeated A. B. Postle in a 100 yards match % two yards in 9 3-ssec. With Jack Donaldson and C .E. liolway, Reg. Walker and A. B. Postle are the fastest sprinters in the world. Some time ago Walker, Postle. and Donaldson figured in a three-cornered contest, over several distances, and the Victorian proved victorious. Postle is considered to be on the down-grade, but still he would have had to put up a phenomenal run to beat the South African. The time is very little slower than Donaldson's world's best of 9 3-Bsec, and places Walker on a still higher pedestal in the athletic world. Postle's (the "Crimson Flash") best distance is 80 yards, and over that stretch he would'no doubt prove Walker's superior.
