SUICIDE AND ATTEMPTED MURDER. By Cabls—Press Association—Copyright. Received January 2, 9.50 p.m. Sydney, January 2. A tragedy occurred at Erskineville. Robert Knight, aged -twenty-one, and Mary Walker, aged twenty, both belonging to Victoria, arrived in Sydney a week ago. They were sweethearts, but quarrelled. Knight was heard saying, "If you won't marry me, you will not .marry anyone, else." Knight shot the girl, but did not injure her seriously. He then shot himself fatally.
