VARIO CTS COX FEREXCES. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London. December 80. It is estimated that 44,000 new n>embers have been secured by the South Wales Miners' Federation since the strike. A conference of the North-Eastern railwaymen passed a resolution that the recent' strike settlement was absolutely unjust and requested the executives of the different societies to call a conference. The conference of seamen and firemen, after discussing the establishment of a wages board, remitted the question to the'executive, to take what action was necessary. The eonfeemce of the unions in the dyers' trades at Bradford, representing 50,000 members, rejected the masters' concessions, and decided to take a ballot on thcm.
A TAXI-CAB STRIKE. ■ Received January I, 11.25 p.m. London, January 1. Five thousand taxi-cab drivers struck to-dav against an increase in the price of petrol. About 4000 outside the union will remain at work.
