, WOOL, SKIK. HIDE AND TALLOW ! REPORT. 1 Messrs L. A. Nolan and Co. report as I follows: I We held our December sale 011 the I 17th inst., and have very great pleasure in recording the -best sale we have ever had. We submitted a good catalogue of good stufl, and as there was extremely keen competition everything made its top market value. We had considerably more wool than we had handled at the corresponding sale last year. The catalogue comprised 107 bales, II fadges and 98 bags of wool, all of which was sold cither under the-hammer or immediately after the sale. We sold three bales at 10y>d, three at 10y t d, one at lOd, 23 at 9%d, five at 9'M 31 at 1 9yd, 27 at 9d (mostly log-stained), six at B%d, and one only at 8y 2 d. Many vendors were present, and were one and all struck, and in some cases considerably amused, at the strenuous and emphatic bidding of many of the buyers. Hides showed another sharp rise all round, cows advancing generally about Id per lb, with some weights about l%d; ox showed from %d to Id advance; bull hides were keenly sought for, and realised up to 7yd per lb, a record for us; calves were in demand and made up to Is 3d per lb.
