THE RACES.
s Tb the Editor, Sir,—As a visitor to New Plymouth—and I always spend my holidays here — I took a walk to the races, and, to my sorrow, I put a sum of money 011 a 1 horse which ran second, and was placed j third, so I got no dividend. I would i like to know .why that horse was not I given its proper place in the race. This is something like the Lady Medallist ease. —I am, etc., j A TRUE SPORT, j [Presumably our correspondent refers i to the finish between Denise Orme and | Simple Sam for second place in the j Borough Handicap. It was so close j that nobody but the judge could possibly j decide it. This is the old story of lost ] money and racecourse angles.—Ed.J j
