DOCTOR AND GROOM.

CHARGE OF ASSAULT. At the Eltham Police Court yesterday morning, A. T. Tovey, medical practitioner, of Kaponga, was charged with assaulting Carey Forward at Eltham on the 16th inst. Defendant pleaded guilty. Plaintiff gave evidence of the assault, stating that the defendant hit and kicked him and in doing so tore his sjiirt, for no reason. He did not hear the doctor request hi mto feed the horse. A. 11. Tovey said he drove to Dr. Harrison's on the 16th, and on arrival requested Forward to attend to his horse, and to give it a feed and some water. On returning for the animal he observed that this had not been done. He then looked for plaintiff and discovered him in the garden. ,He taxed him with omitting to feed the horse, and on Forward Baying he di dnot hear him he hit him. The man laid down and the doctor caught him by the collar and administered seven! kicks which he considered were only justifiable. Defendant: was fined 10s, costs 14s 6d, and 5s Od for damage to the shirt.— Argus.
