NEW SOUTH WALES TEACHERS' TEAM. By Telegraph—Press Association. 'Wellington, Last Night. The New South Wales Teacher# cricket team arrived from Sydney to* day. The personnel of the team is as follows: McMullen (Burwood), 0. Smith, O'Neill, Sattlerand Schrader (Central Cumberland), Freeman (Glebe), Myers (Balmain), Dunn (Petersham), Barnes (Woolongong), Morris (Broken llill), Rose (Golburn), Moore (Crook- j well), Walsh and Rogers. SOUTH MELBOURNE v. WAIRARAPA. Masterton, Last Night. The South Melbourne cricketers commenced' their New Zealand tour with a match against Wairarapa to-day. The w;eather was fine and the pitch in good order. Wairarapa went first to the wickets, and were dismissed for 67. The only scorers to reach double figures were Collins 20, Congdon 12, and Jordan 10. South Melbourne had lost eigkt wickets for 217 when stumps were drawn. The chief scorers were: Sykes 48, Scoti 37, Deas 35, and Kyle 30 (not out). The match will be continued tomorrow. THE HAWKE CUP. SOUTH TARANAKI v. WANGANUI.
Wanganui, Last Night. / A representative match—the first of si series for the Hawke Cup—commenced here to-day in fine weather. The teams were South Taranaki and Wanganui. The former batted first, on a perfect wicket, but were quickly disposed of for 26. E. Holland and Bernau were unplayable, the former securing five wick* etp for fourteen runs, and Bernau four for seven. Wanganui occupied the wick* et.4 for 100 minutes, during which time they. compiled 453 'runs. Orton contributed an admirable 147# batting »U" perbly with strokes all round the wicket. The other principal scorers were: Bathgate 66, Butterworth 47, Furrie 37, Bernau 35, Holland 23, Howard 18, Tilyard 15, Burrett 10 (not out), and Murchie 10. Only one batsman failed to reach double figures. The match will be concluded to-morrow.
THE WILLIAMS SHIELD. Auckland, Wednesday, The cricket match for the Heathcote Williams Shield between the Christclnirch Boys' High School and Auckland Grammar School began this morning in fine weather on the Domain cricket ground. The Aucklanders batted first anil scored 89 runs in the first innings. XORTII TARANAKI REPRESENTATIVES. The following teams of North Taranalci representatives have been selected by Mr. G. Gudgeon (solo selector)To play Wanganui on December 25 and 20: W. Clegg, W. Matthews, W. H. Perham, Summerville, G. Pullen, ,T. C. Summer, A. Osborne, G. Gudgeon, IC. B. Sain, E. Sarten and W. Fuller. To play at Hawera against South Tavanaki on December 27 and 28: W. Matthews, J. C. Summer, A. Osborne, W. P. Nicoll, Sum* mervillo, K. 15. Bain, W. H. Perhanji, R, Marsh, X. Arden, E. Sarten and W, Fuller. The unfinished match, Xew Plymouth v. Inglcwood, will be played at Inglewood this afternoon. The New Plymouth team will comprise: Nicoll, Weston, Bain, -Hasell, Williams, Colvile, Simpson, Gwillim, Avery, Legg, Morey.
