Several newspapers alleged that Mr. •Asquith informed his colleagues that lie would retire at the end of the present Parliament if votes for women were adopted, or became part of the party's policy at the next elections. Received 17, 9.55 p.m. London, December 17. Replying to a question, Mr. Asquith said that he -was not aware of any grounds for the statement that he would resign if the women's franchise were granted.
