As hj« was handing some parcels out of the trap the horse cleared out and capsized the trap on Mr. gassie, who was badly knocked about. He was taken into New Plymouth by motor car for medical aeeistaaae. The Acclimatisation Society iib«ra.ted 5000 young trout in the Warea rirer, and 5000 in the Waiweranui river on Friday.

The weather lately has been very hot and dry. It looks ae if there will fce a poor look out for the young turnips this season.

The annual meeting of the Athletic Club was held in the hall on Saturday •night, a fair number of members being present. Mr. J. Simpson (president), occupied the chair. RAHOTU. A meeting of the Eahotu branch of the Coast Railway League was held in Mr. Hughson's house on the 6th inst, only three members attending. If one happened to ask how it is nobody turns out to, meetings, the answer is " The cows must' be milked," and the meeting should he held in the' winter when the cows are dry, but if a play or a circus comes along everybody seems to turn out, and the cows are not mentioned. Farmers are taking advantage of the fine weather, and getting in their swcdo crops. The Rahotu delegates of the RailwayLeague journeyed to Warea on Thursday, the 12th inst., to attend a meeting of the Combined League, and, by the amount of business reported when they returned, we should soon have that railway. The Kahui Road Co-operative Dairy Company seem to be a very unhappy family since taking the factory over from Oaonui. If things do not soon improve, most of the suppliers will be sending their milk to Rahotu Factory. Mr. Anniss is coming to Rahotu with liis milk, and I am told that Messrs. Willeox and Sons are going to eome after the 20th; also that several others are going in for separators, and will be sending their cream to Rahotu. It is to bo hoped the directors of the Kahui Road Company will try to settle the trouble before it is too late. People are beginning to ask what has become of the noxious weed inspectors. Have bhcy been retrenched, owing to the Government being so short of funds, er ar they having a holiday?
