THE RAILWAY LEAGUE.

MEETING AT WARKA. On Thursday niglit the delegates of the various branches of the Western Taranaki Railway League met at the Warea Hall, those present including Messrs. A .H. Johnston, D. K. Morrison, «.nd W. J, Penn, representing New Plv,»«uth; G. A. Adlam and F. J. Morrie, Oakura; J. Burgess and 11. Corbett, Warea; T. P. Hughson and G. Gibson, Rahotu; C. Andrews and W. J. Gray, Okato.

Mr. Janice Burgess was voted to the chair. Mr, Johnston explained what had taken place. It was decided to set up a central executive consisting- of two delegates from each coastal branch and five from the New Plymouth branch, and that the meeting be held at New Plymouth or Okato, whichever place the chairman thought' most suitable. The [subscription was fixed at five shillings. Mr. W. H. Hawkins, of Tataraimaka, is to be asked to accept the position of canvasser for the whole district from New Plymouth to'Opunake on terms to be arranged, with the object of enrolling members and obtaining signatures to a petition to be presented to Parliament in favour of the construction of the line from Moturoa to Opunake, and to pledge the security of a rate over the j land to make up any loss on the line,
