From Our Resident Reporter. MIDHIRST SCHOOL CONCERT. The Midhirst school concert 011 Friday evening was well attended, Mr. R. Masters, one of the district members of the Taranaki Education Board, presided. The. programme was a good one. and the items were heartily appreciated. .Miss Ruby Anderson played the overture and a second pianoforte solo. Songs, were sung by Misses Savage and Cameron, Mrs. Seabriglit, Messrs. Wilkic, Hawthorne. and by choruses of schoolgirls and schoolboys. The good old country dance, "Sir Roger de C'overlev," was' danced bv the children, and they performed splendidly. Mr. Masters presented the prizes for the year, and congratulated Ihe teachers and pupils upon the completion of a very satisfactory year's work. A dance followed. STRAY PARAGRAPHS Mr. 11. E. Abraham, the new manager of Mr. Xewton King's Stratford business. arrived by I'riday night's express, accompanied by Mrs. Abraham. The Dakota Minstrels' Toko entertainment was given in aid of the Roy Scouts. The net profit was trilling. It lins been ail open secret for some time that Messrs. W. D. Anderson and F. \V. Wake are to leave Stratford early in the New Year for Auckland. Mr., Anderson lias admitted into partnership Messrs. S. Macalisier. at present with Messrs. Spenee and Stanford, in Stratford, and Mr. S. E. Rutherford, of Picton. formerly practising in Wellington. The now firm will have offices in Broadway, a privilege not hitherto enjoyed by Mr. Anderson, who has had o/liccs at Whangamomona. Midhirst and Toko. The new firm starts with good prospects and good wishes for success. The canvass for subscriptions to the school prizes netted £l4 ss. and some gifts in kind. This, with the subsidy, will enable the aommittee to spend £2B 10s on prizes. A co-operative worker from Whangamomona district was brought to the hospital on Saturday, suffering from injuries to his foot, the result' of a tramline mishap.
Mr. W. T, Lovelock, the well-known TTolstein breeder. has written to the A. is P. Association, promising to send in j a good entry at the next Stratford show. ! He writes in an eulogistic strain of the | attention given to man and be.ast at our [ recent show. I At the howling green on Saturday | Brake heat .Morison, and Porritt heat j Perm in the handicap singles. Rain nearly spoiled our weather record lon Saturday. But the few drops which [ fell at about 4.30 p.m. hardly constituted rain sufficient to disturb the sunny monotony. and Saturday must be added to the list of line days. Ten! This is the best kjh'll of fine weather for about sixteen months. The school excursion to New Plymouth is to take place on the last Thursday in .lamiary. In years gone by the Department seems to have tried make this picnic a small all'aii'. but it is still Taranaki's biggest excursion. It is to be hoped that this year the arrangements will be all that they should be. in timetable and other ways. Tho trouble in one of the Anglican churches in Auckhlud seems to interest (piite a number of people here. The Kev, 0. A. B. Watson was at one time the incumbent of this parish. It would be good for the reporters if some parson down this way would make a fuss about something.
