THE PEACE CENTENARY.
SPEECH BY MR. BRYCE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 15, 5.5 p.m. New York, December 14. Mr. Eryce, at a banquet, referring to the proposed celebration of the peace centenary, said it would be better to celebrate the wisdom whereby wars end than the want of skill and wisdom whereby wars were made possible. He had nothing whatever to do with Canadian reciprocity, except as a mere intermediary. The questions involved were entirely for the United States and Canadian Governments to settle. Canada's refusal to enter into an agreement was not a mark of unfriendliness, but she merely considered that the bargain was not sufficiently good. All nations ought to be involved in the proposed celebration. in order to give an object lesson to the world.
