SHORTAGE OF TRUCKS. By Telegraph —Press Association. Invercargill, Last Night. The shortage of trucks is causing great inconvenience to commercial and business linns in Southland. The Town Council is finding difficulty in getting trucks for coal for.the gasworks, and metal .from the quarry for the roads. Representations on the matter are being made to the .Minister for Railways by the Town Council and the Chamber of Commerce. A business man stated today that the volume of business had increased by 40 per cent., while the trucking capacity had increased only 3 per cent. RLIOHT ON TOMATOES. Wellington, Friday. Replying to a deputation from Tlutt tomato growers, Mr. Massey agreed to recommend the allocation of a sum for the purpose of experimenting on the lines proposed, with the object of discovering, if possible, a method for preventing the blight which has ruined an enormous amount of plants this season.
