In response to strong protests in the press and from the Federal Opposition the Government has arranged to reconsider the scheme for the redistributing of New South Wales electorates, which was twice rejected in the House. Bills abolishing the sugar excise and bounty have been introduced in the Souse. SIGNED POLITICAL ARTICLES. A NEWSPAPER RETORT. Melbourne, December 13. The attention of the House was called to an intimation received by the secretary of the Political Labor League from the proprietor of a country newspaper that in view of the disabilities imposed upon newspapers by the Federal Parliament, it was intended to charge 3n per inch for publishing political specche-:, and 6s an inch for similar advertisements. It was asked if the Government I would take action in the matter. ' Mr. Hughes said Parliament had not done anything limiting the press say ing what it pleased, but had only asked that political articles be signed.
