The attention of the House was called to an intimation received by the secretary of the Political Labor League from the proprietor of a country newspaper that in view of the disabilities imposed upon newspapers by the Federal Parliament, it was intended to charge 3n per inch for publishing political specche-:, and 6s an inch for similar advertisements. It was asked if the Government I would take action in the matter. ' Mr. Hughes said Parliament had not done anything limiting the press say ing what it pleased, but had only asked that political articles be signed.
