THE WAIHI STRIKE.
CONSTABLE WADE'S INJURY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Waihi, Thursday. By the aid of X-rays the bullet which struck Constable Wade during the disturbance on November Vi has been located. The bullet is embedded between the ribs and the hip bone on the right side, and had penetrated nve inches from the point of entrance. It is understood that it is not intended xo operate for the time being. THE INQUEST ON EVANS. Waihi, Last Night. The adjourned enquiry into the circumstances .connected with Jie death of Frederick George Evans, who died as the result of injuries received during the disturbances between the workers and strikers at Waihi on November 12. was resumed to-day before Mr. Walinutt, coroner. Mr. J. R, Lundon appeared for the 'relatives of the deceased, and Mr. Selwyn Mays on behalf of the Crown. Mrs. Cottie, one of the women in the Hall when the shooting commenced, stated that she had a clear view of Evans from the time he left the back of the Hall. She saw no weapon in his hand, and heard no report excepting the shots inside the Hall. She saw Evans struck down by the constable, and a crowd afterwards gathered round and assaulted him in an attempt to lynch him. If other witnesses stated differently they would be wrong. The inquest is proceeding.
