Le Matin states that efforts failed to induce the Grand Duke Michael of Russia to consent to annul his morganatic marriage and reconsider his succession to the throne. There is a possibility of the succession passing to the Grand Duke Paul Alexandravitch.

The so-called Captain AVillis and Mrs. Lily Allen, two Londoners, were found dead in a fashionable house at Ruederivoli, each holding an English army revolver in the mouth. SYDNEY'S MAYOR. Sydney, December 0. Lord Mayor Clarke was only eight months in office. Responding to the toast of his health, after Mr. Cocks was elected, he said that; his ambition was to fill the full term. He much regretted that outside influence could be so unfair, because he had shown backbone. The Lord Mavor's salary has been fixed at £1500.'
