WELLINGTON WOOL SALES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. At the opening wool sales to-dav 10,926 bales were catalogued, and 'about sixty buyers were present representing English, American and Continental firms. Competition was good, though not so good as expected. The most clamant demands came from buyers for Yorkshire and for New Zealand woollen mills. Continental buyers for the most part were represented at the opening of the sale by purchases of pieces and bellies for the finer grades of wool. The rise was about Id per pound on last December's prices. A greater advance was looked for in this direction, but on all coarse and medium crossbred wools there was a rise of l%d to 2d per pound, compared with prices realised at last year', corresponding sales. Halfbred prices to-day opened at ll%d to 12d and 12»/ 2 d per pound, best crossbred 10d to lo%d, Romnev super ;10%d to ll%d, coarse crossbreds 9d to 9%d, halfbred ;bellies and pieces B%d to !)d, crossbred bellies and pieces 7'/;d to B%d, first 7v,d

f A cable received from London yesterday morning gives 122s as spot value of finest .New Zealand butter, salted and unsalted. The market is firm with an upward tendency for finest. ■
