SWIMMING.
It is pleasing to chronicle that more interest is now being taken in swimming matters locally. The secretary of the New Plymouth Amateur Swimming Club (Mr. G. Tabor) announces that members are coming forward very freely, indeed, the number is now more than trolile that of any previous season. The Club has approached the Baths Committee in an endeavour to get the use of the baths two nights a week free of charge, hone but members to he admitted on those evenings. With a view to encouraging the younger members to obtain a knowledge of the natatorial art juvenile members' tickets are issued at Is 0d and parents -should gladly avail themselves of this opportunity as It is the intention of the senior members of the club to devote themselves on the evenings mentioned to instructing any of the children who desire to learn.
Ou the sixteenth of the month, the Club is holding a novelty display in the Theatre. The boys of the New Plymouth High School and the Central School girls are taking part. A very interesting programme of moving pictures, principally based on swimming, will also be submitted.
