DISTRICT NEWS.
RAHOTU. (From Our Own Correspoid»nt.) A private moonlight picnic by invitation was to have taken place last Tuesday evening, but owing to the boisterous weather had to be put off. Friday, November 29, was a lovely summer's day here, but tho evening changed and was as cold as any evening during the winter. The Woslcyan Sunday School anniversary concert took place this week and was a great success and was very much appreciated hy children and adults alike. Larrikins or practical jokers seem to bo amusing themselves with explosives, frightening all the residents of the district, ■■ as was the ease last Wednesday evening." At a quarter-past nine a great report was heard, but none knew the direction, until .it- was found that one of Mr. L. Fisher's outhouses had been blown up.- This is past a joke. It is io be hoped that our local constable will be able to sh-et the matter home to the miscreant.
A very severe firm of influenza is prevalent in the district at present, several being affected. Mr. W, -liodsou has been laid.up-with '! for some time, but is again able to. at about. Mr. Bert. Jackson, who h:>s been laid up for several, weeks with . i. severe attack of sciatica, is, I am pleased to say, now able to ;*oi about without the aid of a stick.
