(Conducted by "Eileen.") PERSONAL ITEMS. Mr. Sydney Paul, who lias Leon visiting his sister, Mrs. Bennett, at Blenheim, has returned to New Plymouth. Mr. R. Outfield, who has just recovered from au attack of appendicitis, is expected home from Palnierston some time next week.

Miss Norah Dempsey left last night by the Earawa to join the nursing staff of the Auckland Hospital. Miss Ivy Birdling, of Waitara, has gone for a trip to Christchureh. Mrs. Leslie Webster, who has been on a visit to Blenheim and Nelson, has returned to New Plymouth.

:Mr. Stanley Paul, who has been on a nine months' trip to the Old Country, ai - : rives home by the mail train to-night. Mrs. Claude Weston, who is at present in Wanganui, returns home next Thursday.

''' Misses Eddis and Dean, who have been the guests of Mr. Clement flovett, left last Monday for Napier, finally returning to England in March. Miss Krice Bayley, accompanied by Dr. and Mrs. M. Christie, who have been on a trip to the Old Country, arrive in New Plymouth on -December 2-1. Mrs. Lewis Jackson, who has been on a visit to Auckland, returned to New Plymouth yesterday by the Rarawa.

Mrs. Krai. Bayly, who lias just recovered from an attack of appendicitis, is the guest of Mrs. Pern-. Vivian street, at present. In February. Mrs. Bayly, accompanied by her son, intends visiting the Old Country. Mrs. Ken. Webster, who Ims been on a visit to her parents at Mangawcka, returned to New Plymouth last Monday.

Miss Cicntles is the guest- of Mrs. H. Mtmro, New Plymouth.

A charming new tea kiosk, situated on the racecourse, 'behind the grandstand, has just been built by the New Plymouth Jockey* Club, and will be formally, opened at the coming Christmas, meeting. Tea will be served under the management of Mrs. A. Kirkby.
