ABANDONING THE FEDERATION.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Thursday, The General Laborers' Union has applied for permission to register under the Arbitration Act. Permission has been granted by the Registrar. Tb6 Union cancelled its original registration some time ngo and joined the Federation of Labor.
THREATENED STRIKE OF BAKERS,
Auckland .Last Night. With reference to the dispute in ths baking trade, it is stated by the master bakers that they have no desire to continue the night shift, provided the men, following the example of the Arbitration Court, granted them sufficient time tc adapt their business to the new conditions. The employers would be only too pleased to fall in with a d.ivlight start They also point out that the increase in wages does not amount to 2s 6d per week, as alleged by Mr. Veale. The" Union, however, shows no inclination to meet the views of the masters, and has notified them that in the. events of its demands not being complied with th» men will cease work on Saturday.
THE TIJLARU TItOUBLE. Timani, Last Night. The Prime Minister passed south today. Two representatives of the Waterside I'nioiijnterviewed him, and stated their case. Mr. Massey promised that Mr. Herries, in Wellington, would see the secretary of the union, who is now in that city, and consider what he had to say about the raihvaymen over whom the strike arose.
