THE ANTI-JESUITS.
GERMAN CHANCELLOR'S VIEWS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 5, 10.20 p.m. Vienna, December 5. In the Reichstag Herr von BethmannHoll'wcg, the German Chancellor, said that the decision of the Federal Council merely involved the codification of a long-prevailing practice with regard to the Jesuits. If the Centre withdrew its confidence they would simply make antiJesuit laws the keystone of a political programme. The antipathy of the Protestauts towards the Jesuit Order was justified by the latters' past. St. Petersburg, December 5. The Novoe Vremya, commenting on this pronouncement, says that such an intimidation frightens nobody, but prudence demands the immediate withdrawal of vast Russian deposits from German banks.
