A Melbourne cablegram of November 16 states that peculiar circumstances surrounded the shooting of Robert McGregor at East Prahran. Festivities were being held at McGregor's house. During the evening a guest was ejected. Ringing at the front door bell in an early hour of the morning interrupted the proceedings. McGregor answered the door. When it was opened, a man standing on the footpath fired five shots from a revolver, two striking McGregor. He was removed to the hospital. Doctors failed to extract the bullets from the liver and stomach. McGregor refused to name his assailant. He subsequently died.
