FATAL NEW YORK FIRE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. New York, December 3. A five destvoyed a crowded apartment house. Two persons are dead, and five fatally injured. Five others are missing. Firemen rescued a dozen people with scaling ladders, amidst the cheering of the crowd. A LIBEL ACTION. London, December 3. Baron Graves is suing Earl Galloway for alleged libel. It is alleged that the Earl of Galloway wrote to Baron Graves' son Clarence, suggesting that Baron Graves inducted Captain I'yevs to take shares in a shaky Yukon gold mine. Baron Graves, giving evidence, said 'he invested £50,000 himself. > THE HALDANE-ROBERTS CONTROVERSY. London, December 3. There have been severe snow storms in the north of England and in Scotland. At Nairn a temperature of 24 , degrees below freezing point was registered, and at Aberdeen 23 degrees below freezing point.
