ARBITRATION COURT.
CLAIMS FOR DAMAGES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. At the Arbitration Court to-day Emma Parkinson claimed from the Shaw-Savill Company £4B compensation and £9 IGs 6d, expenses of the funeral of her husband, who died in January as the result of an accident while unloading cargo from the Kumara. Claimant had been separated from her husband, who, however, had partly maintained her. Decision was reserved.
, William Joseph Sellars made a claim for compensation against the same company. He was injured in the hold of the Athenic by the falling of a tarpaulin, in March, and the company paid compensation at the rate of 31s weekly till July 6. Sellars claimed a further amount, as he was unable yet t« resume work. Decision was reserved.
. At the Magistrate's Court W. J. S. TTayward, tailor, was fined 20s for employing a machinist at less than the award rate, and was further fined 20s for permitting work to he done under the team system.
