ADVERTISING THE TOWN.
EXPANSION AND TOURIST LEAGUE. A meeting of the New Plymouth Expansion and Tourist League was held last evening in the League's new quarters in Brougham street, Dr. Leatham presiding over a large attendance of members. The various committees reported on the progress of their work and arrangements. The resignation of the Treasurer (Mr. Col lis) was received, and Mr. K. C. Webster is to be asked to fill the position. It was decided to ask subscribers through the press to hand in their contributions, an dalso to advertise for particulars as to the available aecommodatriliutions, and also to advertise for parIt was decided to communicate with the Marine Department with a view to arranging for a visit of the training ship ' Amokura; to co-operate with the Taranald Teachers' Institute in an endeavour to have New Plymouth included in the itinerary of the New South Wales tourist teachers; and to wait, upon the Railway Department with a view to securing week-end excursion farce from Ilawcra and intermediate stations during the holiday season. The question of arranging with the Garrison Band to give concerts on Sunday afternoons in the Recreation Grounds and on the beach during the holiday season was deferred for future consideration. It was mentioned that the advertising in the papers of the Dominion had commenced that morning. The question of offering a reward for information leading to the conviction of persons dynamiting fish in the local rivers was discussed and deferred.
