NORFOLK ISLAND.
AUSTRALIAN CONTROL. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 3, 9.5 p.m. Melbourne, December 3. Mr. Fisher, referring t& Norfolk Island, said: "We shall probably take it, but it will be as a duty and not as a good thing. The Imperial Government is not keen, so far as I know, either to retain it or part with it. The Commonwealth has enough to do at home, but must face its duties in the Pacific. I do not favor special efforts to extend the CommonwealtlPs control in the Pacific, but Australia does not desire other people crowding round her in the Pacific. That would be no joke.
