Mr. Warkdcn, secretary of the Railwa; Clerks' Union, states that the compan ies have notified the Government tha unless legislation is introduced durinj the present session to enable an increasi in rates they would withdraw the con cessions granted through the strike, am leave the Government to face a nationa railway strike. Mr. Williams, secretary of the Rail way Servants' Union, speaking at Man Chester, said that the Midland Railwaj Company was victimising the men con cerned in the strike. If the companj did not stop, the unions would be com pelled to take action. Foot and mouth disease is reported at Ashford.
