It is officially stated that in the typhoon at the Philippines 15,000 natives were killed and injured. The Governor-General of the Philippines telegraphs that the typhoon wrecked three-quarters of Macloban, and did great damage at Capiz. Other messages state that bodies, mostly of Viscayans, are lying in thousands over the islands. At Capiz, with a population of twelve thousand, half were killed.
