MR. SPEAKER WILLIS.
AT LOGGERHEADS AGAIN. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 29, 10.35 p.m. Sydney, November 2D. In the Council strong protests were made against Mr. Speaker Willis ignoring the President's authority in connection with the payment of the Parliamentary staff. The President declared that Mr. Willis -was acting illegally and without his concurrence. Mr. Willis, in a statement handed to the press, expresses surprise at ihe President's displeasure. He claims that he had legal warrant for his action. The Speaker had become an automaton, but his installation brought "the rubber Btamp regime" to an end. His reforms did not meet with approval from persons dominated by envy, hatred and malice, but they must prevail.
