ANOTHER MAD OUTRAGE. By Cable—Pr >ss Association;— Copyright. London, November 28. The suffragettes destroyed a quantity of letters by dropping acid in pillar boxes in the city streets to-night. Received 29, 5.5 p.m. Pillar-box outrages are general in London and the provinces. In some cases the acids ignited from contact with the air, and burst into flames. WANTON DESTRUCTION. WOLESALE DESTROYING OF LETTERS. Received 30, 1 a.m. London, November 29. The suffragettes chose letter-boxes in the vicinity of the Stock Exchange and Hark Lane for dropping in acids. Many cheques, share certificates and contracts Were destroyed. There were similar outrages in the West End. at Finchley, Camberwell and Islington, whore four hundred letters were damaged. In some cases the acids were contained in corkless bottles and phials labelled "Votes for women." The trouble was only discovered at the General Post Offices by piles of letters breaking into flumes, ffhe officials quickly smothered them. Occasionally paraffin rags and lighted matches were put in the post boxes. The Staffs nt the sorting offices were hours in deciphering the damaged addresses.

Ten letter-boxes in the centre of Birmingham were smothered with tar and yarnish. There has been similar wholesale destruction in Nottingham, apparently as a reprisal for being outwitted in attempts to interfere with Mr. Asquith on Friday at Hkestone. At Newcastle a hundred letters were 'damaged by ink being poured into the boxes.
