TARANAKI OIL FIELDS.
A meeting of the local directors of th« Taranaki Oilfields, Ltd., was held lasi evening.
It was reported that the bore at No. 1, Bell Block, was down 390 feet and at - ' n the same district about 100 feet. At the 350 feet level of the former a big flow of water was tapped. The formation was of a fossilised shell nature. Hie dull is now in. blue clay. Work on the erection of works is proceeduig apace, about 00 men being emp oyed. The Company are giving employment to 100 men altogether. lie rotary derrick will commence work as soon as the new boiler comes to hand, thing else being in readiness. The water has been laid on. There is a pro-' posftl to connect the plant with the aas from No. 2 bore. This will entail the erection of a small gasometer for the storage of the gas, which can then be used for the refinery as well as the bores.
