Yi'ool.—The sales have commenced. The market has advanced Id lb on an I average for all grades. The market looks very strong. There are a number of buyers at the higher price. TARAXAKI WOOL, SKIN, HIDE AN T D TALLOW SALES. MR. NEWTON KING'S REPORT.
On Tuesday. November 19, I held my usual four-weekly sale of the above produce, the catalogue comprising 30 bales and 90 sacks wool, 2987 sheepskins, 13 casks and 52 tins tallow, 844 hides and 544G calfskins, besides the usual assortment of horsehair, cow tails, etc Bidding throughout the sale was very keen ! and spirited. Wool—As yet i there is only a small quantity coming forward, shearing operations having just commenced. Prices m comparison with last year's opening sale were one penny to one penny half-' penny higher. Owing to the unsettled state of the labor market in shipping and other circles and the increased freights to London, many growers are disposing of their wool in the Dominion. In this respect I have to report the sale of a 90-bale.clip at a satisfactory figure. Sheepskins—ln keen demand'at y 4 d per lb advance. Hides—There was an unprecedented demand of these, prices being the highest yet recorded. A careful perusal of J the prices realised will show the extreme values obtained, all classes selling at an advance of from %d to iy 3 d perlb. _ Yalues are likely to remain firm owing to a 'shortage throughout the Dominion.
