COST OF LIVING IN 'FRISCO.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Noticing in your issue of today's date a paragraph re cost of living in San Francisco by Mr. Foster-Eraser, do you or Mr. Fraser try to make any intelligent citizen in this country believe that an ordinary clerk has to pay £lO per week for board and lodgings? If the public of this country believe such stuff as this the}' are easier gulled than I ever imagined. I have lived in 'Frisco for years, and only arrived here two months ago. I p,ai?l two dollars for a furnished room in a fashionable part of the city per week. I dined at respectable dining saloons and cafes, and only paid at tlie rate of ;i quarter dollar per meal, and got better served than you are. here for 10s per day, as we have in 'Frisco luscious fruit on the table for every meal. Here you only see it in the window of a "Chow's" shop. Self-con-stituted critics such as the gentleman you refer to should be careful of their facts. Who is Foster-Eraser? Why does he not speak truths not Action?—l am, etc., WALTER F. JOHNSTON. Eltliaru, 27th November.
