The report of the Australasian Temperance and General Mutual Life Assurance Society for the year ended September 30, shows a large expansion of business. The total income was £402,795, an increase of £37.Sf)l. The funds have expanded by £174.004. The rate of interest carried £4 lis.

THE BILBOA VICTIMS. Received 27. 10.25 p.m. Madrid, November 27. Forty thousand attended the funeral of the Bilboa victims. The procession was three hours passing. The students carried forty-six coffins.
AN AWARD CHALLENGED. Received 28, 12.5 a.m. Sydney, November 27. Three groups of steamship owners are challenging the validity of Mr. Justice Higgins's recent award in the Merchant Service Guild case, on the ground that the interstate shipping is beyond the jurisdiction of the Federal Courts.
