Wellington, Monday. The following is the High Commissioner's cablegram under date London, November 23. (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot):— Mutton.—The market is steady, with a very good demand for best quality. A great number of stale carcases of mutton are being placed on the market. There is no change in prices, viz., Canterbury 4%d. North Island 4%d. There is a proslieet of an advance on account of fresh Iviver Plate selling at 4d to 4y„d.

Lamh.—There has been no alteration in tin; market since last week., and there is a limited demand. There is some very good quality amongst the new'arrivals of Australian. Canterbury 5%d, other than .Canterbury 5%t1. Beef—There are signs of an improvement on the market. There is a moderate supply of chilled. New Zealand hinds 3%<1. fores 2%d. Butter.—The market is very depressed. Buyers are holding back. The average price for the week for choicest New Zealand was 1.14s to 110s, Australian Ills. Argentine 100s, Danish 120s, Siberian 1275. A shipment of butter and cheese arrived in good condition by the iCorinthic. Cheese—The market is dull, with less demand. The average price for the week for finest New Zealand -vas iM)s to (Sis. Hemp.—The market is depressed, on. account of advices from Manila of heavy receipts and speculative operations. New Zealand o-ood-fair grade £52 to £32 10s, fair <n-ade £SO 10s for all positions; fair enrmit Manila, spot £32, forward.shipment £33 The output from Manila for the week was 33,000 bales. .
