SUPREME COURT.
A MENACE TO SOCIETY. Auckland, Saturday. In the Supreme Court, Harold Jarnoy Weston, aged 29, was found guilty of tampering with a girl under four years. He was described by Mr. Justice Chapman as a menace to the public, and sentenced to seven years' hard labor and a further term of live years' reformative treatment. His Honor indicated plainly that he would offer no encouragement to get the prisoner before his term had expired. WELLINGTON SESSIONS. Wellington, Saturday. Two prisoners who attributed their downfall to drink were sentenced to-day. Thomas Dickson, who had pleaded guilty to detaining postal packets and four charges of theft, was ordered six months' reformative treatment. He was told by the Chief Justice that if he applied after some months for release, then the Prison Board might give him probation. For theft, Harold Kctterer was sentenced to three years' reformative treatment.
