THE SOUTHERN TEAM. By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston North, Last Night. The South Island howlers played here to-day and defeated Ihe local club comfortably. The scores were as follows, the visiting skips being named first:— Saunders 21, v. West 20; Pyne 18, v. Nash 20; Henderson 10, v. Smith 24; Maynard 31, v. Tasker 24; Bently 36, v. Young 14; McCurdy 27, v. Pickering 20; Cooper 35, v. Sollitt 18; Nicholson 30, v. Turner 20. Totals: South Island 217, Palmerston 160, NEW PLYMOUTH v. STRATFORD. New Plymouth Club journeyed out to Stratford and played a banner match against the Stratford Club. Four rinks competed from each club, New Plymouth winning by 33 on the total of the four rinks, and by 25 for the three highest rinks for the banner.
