DESTRUCTIVE TYPHOON.
IN PHILIPPINE ISLANDS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Port Darwin, November 21. The steamer Eastern brings details of the typhoon in the Philippines at the end of October. It was the worst for many years. Four hundred parsons were killed and 5.000,000 pesos worth of damage done to property. Many vessels were sunk, thousands of houses destroyed, the barracks damaged and the hospital dismantled. Patients were conveyed in a hurricane and driving rain to railway cars". Tens of thousands, including many Americans, are homeless. The typhoon was accompanied liy a tidal wave, which tore up and destroyed the railway in many r>hces.
