CRICKET.
INGLEWOOD A v. NEW PLYMOUTH. This match was unfinished, New Plymouth appearing to have slightly the getter of the game. The weather was line at the start, but got very dull about | 5.30, and stumps were drawn at five minutes to six owing to failing light. Inglewooil won the toss and batted. Pullen and Clegg opened to Nicoll and Bain. Both started well, and ran a good number of short runs. Nicoll caught Pullen oil' his own bowling with the score at j 13. Gudgeon and 11. Marsh soon left, but Ilarkncss stayed in some little time. Clegg played a good innings of 44. Matthews got a rather lucky 20, and G. Marsh played soundly, although slowly, for 24, and was unbeaten at the finish.' Extras 25 was largely accounted for through Gwillim getting a very nasty knock on the head and having temporarily to retire. A feature of the innings was New Plymouth's wild throwing in, many chances of "run outs" being" lost from tliis cause. Gwillim, with 3 wickets for 19 and Bain 3 for 40, got the -best bowling averages. New Plymouth started their innings at 5.15 in a failing light. Nicoll and W«ston started briskly. With the score at 28, Weston was" run out in attempting a short run. ■ Bain and Nicoll carried the game on until 4.50, when it was decided to draw stumps. Nicoll carried his bat for 30.
