ANTICS OF AN APE.
ESCAPES FROM ITS CAGE. London, November 3. The attendants at the London Zoological Gardens had a lively experience with an orang-outang that escaped from its cage on Sunday night. The animal dashed about the apehouse, throwing flower-pots, bits of wood, iron bolts, and other missies in all directions. The staff made desperate efforts to cateh it, but the creature, finding itself close pressed, broke through one of the windows and climbed on to the roof. After a while it re-entered the house by means of the window, which was then boarded up to preveat it getting out by that way again. The ape, however, was quite equal to the occasion, and finally emerged from its place of captivity by breaking through the roof. It then made its way to a tree, up in the branches of which, despite a fog that prevailed at the time, it constructed a nest. Here it was allolwed to remain until the morning, lowed to remain until the morning, itw as dislodged and driven back to its cage.
