THE CATTLE CHAMPIONSHIPS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, Wednesday. The Wanganui Agricultural Association's annual show opened to-day in fine weather, there being a satisfactory attendance of the public. All classes "were well filled, and as some of the leading breeders of the Dominion are represented, the display is of a high standard. Horses, dairy cattle, fat stock and dogs are specially strong features both in numbers and quality. Cattle.—ln Herefords there was very keen competition between G. F. Moore (Wanganui) and E. Short (Feilding), between whom honors were fairly evenly divided, though Short carried off both championships. In Shorthorns, G. A. Turner (Eltham) won the championship for bull and E. A. Campbell (AVanganui) for cow. In Polled Angus, C. G. Russell (Wanganui) won tho championship for bull, and Fred Moore (Wanganui) championship for cow. In Ayrshires, J. Donald (Wanganui) won the championship for bull and C. Karsten (Waikanae) for cow). In Holsteins, J. Donald (Wanganui) won both championships. In Jerseys, W. V. Harkness (Stratford), champion bull, and R. J. Linn (Normanby) champion eow. Sheep. Lincoln championships, W. Perry (Masterton) ram, Mrs. J. D. Ormond (Hawke's Bay) ewe. English Leicester, Jas. Little (Woodgrove) ram and ewe. Border Leicester, Mrs. J. D. Ormond, ram and ewe. Romneys, Wm, Perry (Masterton) ram and ewe. Southdowns, Nelson Bros. (Tomoana) Tarn and ewe. Shropshires, G. L. Marshall (Marton) ram and ewe. Rylands, Momohaki State Farm, ram and ewe. The horse championships are to be awarded to-morrow.
