Evidence was given by Constable Taylor that, on October 23, he saw the defendant driving a cart down Revans street, and the horse in question was practically being dragged behind. Afterwards he told Bray that the animal should not be worked, and lie ihad it kept in a paddock for a night. Defendant said that a veterinary surgeon had seen the horse previously and stated that it was all right. In the witnCss-box Bray said that he had been working the horse on the morning of October 23, and it suddenly developed lameness. He then proceeded to take it home. His Worship said that he did not regard the defendant's explanation as satisfactory. Bray had been before the Court on a number of occasions for similar offences.
