EMPIRE PICTURE PALACE. -. PIGHTINQ DERVISHES OF THE DESERT. This is the title of the star picture at the Empire's usual change of programme to-night. It is indeed a remarkable film, the scene of which is laid in the land of the Pharoahs, and that the play has been enacted on the spot one glance at the opening scene with its conspicuous features ot Egyptian life will convince. It is a Kalem production, which in itself is sufficient recommendation and is alive with lust and hate, with love and revenge. The supporting pictures, too, are of a very high order, including the second series of the Dick Turpin pictures, vir.., the "Gun Powder Plot." Men's Genesis, a psychological comedy, founded upon the Darwinian theory of the evolution of man, and the usual gems of scenic, topical and humorous films. This programme will be shown at the matinee this afternoon, this evening, and also on Holiday an/l Tuesday. THEATRE ROYAL PICTURES. A fair attendance greeted the re-open-ing of the above pictures last evening. The star picture Sicilian Blood is another of the brilliant achievements of tho world-famous Ones Company. The story throughout is a finely acted and most powerfull drama of the type in which the Sicilian players excel. This great production can be described as a feature of features and magnificence, and impressive grandeur was never more faithfully depicted. Another good film was the Laplander's bride wherein are depicted some magnificent snow scenes. For the first time real Laplanders appear on the cinematograph screen, in a play which deals with the customs and habits of their country, amidst whose boundless and beautiful pinc-tiulded, snowcovered landscapees, the scene is laid. The story h enthralling in the extreme. The film has, therefore, the three-fold advantage of providing enjoyable cntertaincovered landscapes, the scene is laid. The mont, instruction and scenic display. These two magnificent pictures, together with a good supporting programme will be screene dfor the last time at the mabe screened for the last time at the matinee to-day. and also to-night, when it is sure to draw a large crowd.
